If we can do this cleanly then I think its a good idea - even if it 
kinda breaks the notopn of a simple HTTP proxy somewhat.  I think 
most users are quick to get frustrated by long delays during which they 
receive no feedback.

We could provide information such as the RTE estimate for the request 
along with other details - of course, this is basically eye candy to 
keep the user occupied long enough to retrieve the data :-)  Hopefully 
when NGR is out there and working well this will be less necessary.
