The good news:

I inserted most of an ISO at 28k/s. So inserts seem to be mostly working.

The bad news:

The above mentioned insert seemed to hang with 2 blocks remaining on
segment 4 out of 5. I eventually restarted my node so it wasn't able to
finish. Now I get to try re-inserting. It would be nice if the fproxy
insert dialog told you which blocks collided. That is a good indicator of
how healthy the network is. I expect nearly all of my first 4 segments to
collide since I inserted it mere hours ago.

I tried to reinsert via command line instead of fproxy because I don't
trust fproxy or my web browser all that much and ran into this:

bash-2.05b$ java -cp freenet.jar freenet.client.cli.Main put CHK@
/home/treed/files/mycd.iso
log level: normal - 8
Using default temp directory: /tmp
Use --tempDir if you want to set this explictly.
State PREPARED reached.
State REQUESTING reached.
Starting SplitFile insert.
SplitFile segment insert started [1/5]
Encoding SplitFile segment (1/5) making 64 check blocks from 128 data
blocks...
ENCODING [1/5]
SplitFile segment insert finished [1/5]: FAILED
State DONE reached.
Request failed.

But I just started insert of a smaller 1 segment file and it seems to be
working.

FIW doesn't work. I believe this is a known bug and being worked on.

My fred has a VSZ of 526M and my box with 512M of RAM is constantly
swapping. Especially when running the latest frost which currently has a
VSZ of 468M.

I would try a download but I really don't know of any reachable content at
the moment. Nobody is updating their freesites or sharing files anymore.
