These funny port numbers are codes for unusual events.  I'll look into
fixing them so they are self-explanatory.  I think basically they
mean the connection is closed already but Fred hasn't noticed it yet.
(-1 to -3 mean the attempt to obtain the port number failed.  -4 and
-5 mean we did get a port number but didn't show it because the
connection is in a state that we need to know about more than we need
to know the port number).
