It looks like the network load infolet displays the number of incoming requests, not the number of handled requests. My pre-NIO node used to handle no more than 1800qph (running on a low power machine), but recently 30k qph and more aren't unusual. This suggests a much greater improvement then there's actually been, seeing as the node doesn't handle much more than 4k-5k qph.
