Sorry, my fault.  I didn't label those two values in the Environment
Infolet very well.  "Memory currently allocated by the JVM" is actually
more along the lines of "Memory currently allocated by the JVM for use
by Fred."  "Memory in use" would likewise be better labeled "Memory in
use by Fred."  Unfortunately most users would have no idea who Fred is. 
The 64MB difference between allocated and maximum is JVM overhead.
