Of course - where did I say we could never change the protocol or break
backward compatability?  I simply don't want any "lone-gunmen" changing
things and breaking compatability with clients, without consulting other
developers first.

My comments were not directed at the encryption work you guys have been
doing - if it is impossible to implement encryption without breaking
compatability, then break compatability we must!
