Yes, but it's a whole new bag of problems, so I doubt we'll get around to
it until we've solved the current batch.

Well, "cannot" usually means "cannot without going to too much effort for
it to be worthwhile" and if streams aren't cached then it will be a lot
easy to find the source. But caching is only an issue for live streams,
which should be short lived with both points moving around a lot between
transmissions.
