Let me reiterate some points that you obviously missed:
* Uprizer is not Freenet. Two different organizations, two
different bank accounts, and with a few notable exceptions
pretty much two different sets of people entirely.
* Nobody here is responsible for answering for Uprizer. You're
writing to the wrong list. If you've got something to say to
Uprizer, go say it to Uprizer.
* Freenet is FREE SOFTWARE. You can download the source,
review it to make sure there's no backdoors or "gotchas,"
and build it yourself so you know it's safe. (If you don't
know enough Java, don't worry -- there are thousands of
eyeballs out there on the code.) If you find something
wrong, you can take it out! And give your fixed version to
the entire world! Hooray for Free Software!
One point I didn't mention before is that the Freenet development
group is the most cantankerous nest of vipers I have ever had the
misfortune to fall into. They are long-fanged advocates of anonymity
and freedom. NOT ONE THING gets by these people.
To anyone with even a teeny bit of knowledge of the development
process around here, the idea that anyone -- ESPECIALLY Ian -- could
sneak some kind of Bad Stuff into the code is ludicrous in the
extreme.
I've got to say that I'm pretty pissed that you'd accuse a person I
really respect, like Ian, of unprincipled hanky-panky. He's a good
person and we're all lucky he's done as much as he has for free
speech.
ALL THAT SAID, I have to say that your insane paranoia fits right in
with Freenet. I suggest you might want to set up a Freesite to make
wild accusations at your leisure.

P.S. I'd also like to point out that Ian Clarke is one of Los
