IndexClient doesn't do any user interface stuff.  All this stuff is
handled by the various programs which use it, and even they very often
don't have user interfaces (such as the freenet-mail/SMTP gateway and
the freenet-news/NNTP gateway, both of which will be changed soon to
use IndexClient).

Making it quit after 3 total fails is not a misfeature, but a bug.
IIRC it has been already fixed or is planned to be fixed.
