Screw consistency in this case. Mostly Freesite authors will have to 
deal with URIs and they are likely to use tools that hide the (hex) 
metadata stuff for them. So for authors it would be (in most cases) 
consistent. Hard core authors and develoerswould have to differ between 
the Metadata spec and the DBR-URI-format, so what?

Hex format might be a piece of cake for CS and math students (which I am 
sure most of you guys are), but it is unknown (or at least a pain in the 
neck (I dumped my calculator which can do hex after graduating)) for 
most people willing to insert daily content into Freenet.
Guys, sometimes I have the feeling you *want* to keep Freenet complicate 
and userunfriendly.

I strongly vote for at least a decimal format or even better back to the 
DDMMYY format.
