Is the "last attempt" field really 18 hours worth of seconds? If not the node 
may have been tried, pruned out after it failed, and then re-added to the RT.

You need to use debug logging to get good info.

Any time TreeRoutingTable.decreaseContactProbability is called counts as a 
failure.  Some causes are connection failure / timeout (i.e. can get an 
outbound connection at all).  Authentication errors, meaning the link crypto 
didn't work. And restart meaning the connection was established but the 
target node failed to respond to a message within the timeout interval.

I think that there might be a bug which causes links to go bad over time.  
Maybe there are spurious restarts because inbound connections from the
target node are rejected when the node hits it's connection limit (not sure 
this makes sense...).
