You are confusing the network with the document web. A Freenet spider
does not spider the network, which would imply going from node to node
indexing the data, that cannot be done by design. It spiders the Web,
reading a document and following any links in it (which are Freenet URIs
in which the decryption key is encoded) irrespective of where they are.
All Web spiders work this way of course, because HTTP does not provide
an index of the files at a site either (in fact, all that is needed if
for Google to install Freenet on there spider hosts).
