At the moment the freenet-latest.jar file is updated daily, and there are almost always improvements of one form or another. There are also security concerns with automatic updating, I would rather simply have a menu uption to "Upgrade to latest version" but leave it up to the user as to how often they do it. Down the line, we will probably offer upgrades through Freenet itself thus benefiting from the security of subspaces automatically.
