Yeah, except when /tmp is not present. And it will happily overwrite
/etc/passwd, too[1]. Rewritten to not use a tempfile.

Triply nested quotes will surely break some obscure non-standard
platform ... let people using that report a bug.


[1] So backporting to 0.5.x may be the right thing.
