IMHO, it would be useful if the installation & upgrade 
 processes leave some clear trace; a couple of point
 where this would be useful are.

- the detailed Fred version number in the fred log at boot
- the freenet.ini/freenet.conf can have the generation
   date & the installer version number written in it
- if I understand the process, the binaries installed in
 the windows version doesn't change during the update,
 so the fclient & config version number must be showed
 somewhere, maybe in the first tab of the config windows
