In any case, I think the best solution to the spitfile corruption issue would be for there to be an Info.Checksum_SHA=blah field that is automatically checked by clients that support it. For the rest of the world, just build a small java CLI program that goes along with the node that can be run on a file to return its SHA hash in the same format as the Info.Checksum_SHA field.
