No, it's not right.
It'd be nice if this would actually rewrite the link _properly_ (so that 
images and such fetch from the same day, and same-site links work), and it 
actually wouldn't be hard to do that, but it leads to the problem of: what if 
_that_ retrieve fails? I'm guessing that's why it is the way it is now. But 
I'd rather see some special case logic to fix that than the mess we have now. 
Maybe I'll even write it and submit a patch now that sf CVS is back.
