GIF is proprietary IP and the owners of it can change licensing on particular use whenever they want. PNG is open-standard with no known IP issues. The question is if Freenet developers want to play hide'n'seek with GIF or use something clearly free of any conflicts. > Those who donated to us did not donate to the "Burn All Gifs" project.
