Freenet 0.5.1 Release Candidate 1 is now available for download from http://freenetproject.org/tiki-index.php?page=Download
You can get the Linux tarball from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/freenet/freenet-0.5.1-rc1.tar.gz?download Or the Windows web-installer from http://freenetproject.org/snapshots/freenet-webinstall.exe (we will provide a full monolithic Windows installer later, the above downloads the files it needs from the site). Or the source tarball from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/freenet/freenet-0.5.1-rc1.src.tar.bz2?download Major new features relative to 0.5.0.7: * Nodes are now permanent by default. Implementation of Address Resolution Keys means you no longer need a permanent IP or DNS address to run a permanent node. More dynamic routing combined with ARKs means "permanent" nodes do not need to run 24x7. Automatic detection of IP address simplifies installation further and keeps the ARK up to date. * New HTML 4.01/CSS2 anonymity filter. Much safer than the old one, removes content that could cause your web browser to violate your anonymity by rewriting web pages to only contain code that it understands. * Splitfile improvements. Much improved splitfile download/upload user interface, optional automatic reinsertion of missing blocks, bugfixes. * The Distribution Node - allows you to create a freenet distribution page using locally generated seednodes, for example to include in your email signature. * Lots of bug fixes! -- Matthew Toseland toad at amphibian.dyndns.org/amphibian at users.sourceforge.net Full time freenet hacker. http://freenetproject.org/ Freenet Distribution Node (temporary) at http://80-192-4-23.cable.ubr09.na.blueyonder.co.uk:8889/y6IERqWAWwc/ ICTHUS. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
