Freenet's anonymity makes it a great POTENTIAL network for content
distribution but as of yet it is VERY unreliable and difficult to get files.
Besides the technical aspects of changeing routing ect freenet needs to
consider a few other things

- key request keys: I suggested this before. Its the same idea as the
requests in frost (though Im not sure how they do their requests). But if a
client tries to download a file and cant find it it submitts a key request
key, which is pulled by other clients on the network. If they have they
content (they already downloaded it, or originally uploaded it) they will
now know that someone out there wants it and it is automatically re-uploaded
to the network.

- larger default data store: speaks for itself. I would also suggest that
the min size of the data store should be 1gb or 2x the largest file
downloaded. So if someone trys to dl a 700mb file and their datastore is
only 1gb, freenet should pop up and say your data store is to small for this
download, would you like to increase the size of your data store, yes or no
- and then do it automatically

- non-java version: I have been trying to get a public campaign going to get
ppl onto freenet, but one very common complaint I hear is that its java. And
I agree, java sucks. It slows my computer down, and is slow itself.

- spread the word: I mentioned these ideas before as well but no one out
there is listening it seems. Cnet offers a link to the freenet download.
Everytime someone dls freenet through cnet it goes up a click on the
downloads. Ppl look to see which clients have the most downloads, are the
most popular. In order to help freenet become more popular the download link
on the freenet site should link to the Cnet download.

Freenet's web site should also have links encouraging users to visit sites
like cnet.com and zeropaid.com where users can vote on products like
freenet. If enough users go and vote then freenet will get a very positive
rating and more users will try it.

Also, sites like www.sharelive.com and www.peerweb.org are willing to link
to freenet content. This would attract users. But before they are willing to
link they want to know that there are freenet users and there is a demand.
So go to these sites and tell them you want them to link to freenet content
and that you will help provide links!
