This is weird. Many software packages uninstall previous version during
install - I can't see how it could be different regarding Freenet
removing traces of the "older" installation. Of course, there's a
question how to identify these "traces" :-(

| option. ATM we are using IzPack which doesn't allow to deal with such
| things... I don't want to hack it ... nor to dedicate resources to
| switch to anything else.

I'm not really familiar with IzPack (though I promise myself I'll get
acquainted with it every couple of months ;-)), but I understand that
there could be problems with such platform-specific options.
