Freenet 0.7 build 1161 is now available. Please upgrade, and let us know if you find any bugs! Changes include: - sdiz's new datastore has been merged. It's not on by default, but you can select it if you want to. This uses a completely different principle to the normal (bdbje) datastore, and should use less resources (disk seeks, CPU, memory), and be faster. - We now have 3 configurable security levels: network, friends, and physical. We ask the user about these 3 configurations in the first-time wizard, instead of asking them about opennet. The highest network security levels automatically turn opennet off, so we ask the user for confirmation if they set them. The security levels also affect other settings, and in future we hope to add new systems to the node that depend on the security level - costly security enhancements on the one extreme, versus dangerous optimisations on the other, each only enabled at specific security levels. The opennet warning is also gone, and you can change the security levels through the config page. - The node updating code should work significantly better, using the less disruptive method of fetching the jar. - Some internal changes (related to bytes to integer conversion and vice versa) will cause CHKs generated after 1161 to be different to those generated afterwards, but we maintain full backwards compatibility. - Translation updates to Chinese, Finnish, Swedish and German. - Various minor improvements to opennet. New nodes will have "Be a seednode?" turned off by default, so if you send me your opennet noderef as a seednode, make sure this option is enabled. If you don't want to be a seednode, turn this option off. - Various improvements to IP address detection and port forward detection. We don't show the alert for port forwarding if we don't need to, but if we haven't seen any evidence of a port forward after an hour, we assume the opennet port isn't forwarded and warn the user. - Various code tidy ups, minor optimisations etc.
