Hey Colten,

Nice to have you on board :) I've been too busy to follow recent freenet
developments, but I'd like to give some advice.

The writings on the website are somewhat idealistic; freenet itself has a lot
of improvements to be made in that direction. Related to this, there are two
things to keep in mind:

- Don't get too idealistic and out-of-touch with reality; always make sure you
understand the limitations of current existing resources.
- On the other hand, don't let the (potentially massive) reality-ideal gap
demotivate you from your work.

Right now the project is fairly disorganised, with regards to infrastructure
and documentation. The academic literature around this topic is also quite
sparse and disorganised. If you're not very experienced with software design,
or open source project co-ordination, you should probably start off
experimenting with smaller personal "pet projects". Personally, I'm quite
idealistic, and on occasion this has led me to bite off more than I can chew.
This can be very frustrating, so I'm giving a heads-up about it.

Lastly, you should definitely think about applying for Google Summer of Code
with us next year - you can read more about it on our new-wiki, as well as
google's web pages.

Hope this was useful,
Ximin
