The person below (name removed) suggests that we should include the date for
the Godwin quote. Personally I frequently see quotes that don't include
dates, so I don't think this is a conspicuous omission on our part.

Anyone have strong feelings on the topic?

Ian.

Hi Ian,

The quote by Mike Godwin on the page
http://freenetproject.org/whatis.htmlhas no day or even year
specified. People who are new to the quote may not
realize it is already almost 15 years old.

The quote, according to the EFF web page
https://w2.eff.org/Misc/EFF/?f=quotes.eff.txt
with date and source is:

"I worry about my child and the Internet all the time,
even though she's too young to have logged on yet. Here's what I worry
about. I worry that 10 or 15 or 20 years from now she will come to me and
say, "Daddy, where were you when they took freedom of the press away from
the Internet?'"
 - EFF staff counsel Mike Godwin, "Fear of Freedom: The Backlash
Against Free Speech on the 'Net" at the Feb. 13 1996, Oakland, Calif.
   New Media Technology conference.

Thanks for working on Freenet.

Cheers,
