Hey, everybody.
I release a testing build (testing-build-1406-pre1) earlier this
evening. You can get it by using the update script with the parameter
"testing". If you experience any new trouble, just shout.
Also, I would like to get the development process a little bit more in
order and have thus created a couple of new branches in the process:
- next: this is where development mainly takes place. If you want
bleeding edge, this is your branch.
- feature branches: if you are implementing a feature that will take a
longer than a single evening you create a new branch for it. To keep up
with latest development you can merge "next" into it every now and then.
After you have completed your work you merge your branch back into
"next".
- testing: this is a branch that has no real commits. It only exists to
always point to the latest "testing" build. Subsequently, no development
takes place on this branch. The only way to get stuff into this branch
is to merge "next" into it.
- master: this is the branch we will (hopefully) do all future releases
from. As with the testing branch, this branch only receives merge
commits (and tags). If you are looking for the latest stable release
(which might be interesting if you are packaging Freenet for a
distribution), this is your branch.
In your own repositories you are of course free to do whatever you want
but if everybody with commit access to the staging repository could
stick to these simple rules, that would be fantastic. :)
Greetings,
David
