Hi, sorry for yet another non-relevant message to the dev list (the email address is removed in the list), but as a friendly notice I believe the sensor is EOL.
This is according to digikey, mouser and personal experience with the manufacturer EOLing most (or all) of the sensors in this package. The manufacturer website (broadcom) wrongly claims the product is active. I have the same experience with APDS-9960, which I have official EOL notice for and the site still says Active. (Specilation) I believe the TCS34xxx series is going to replace all the APDS eventually, I recommend looking into these. They're all 1.8V devices, but the I2C interface is 3.3V tolerant.
