@masaori335 If we want to use this in other places, that extra parameter is needed so the resulting event / action can be tracked and canceled if needed. As I noted elsewhere, if we're going to toward smaller, more focused PRs, then those PRs will have things in that not directly needed. @maskit already thinks this commit is too large.
