What's not clear to me here, since I don't know a lot about the inner workings of Kafka Connect, is how using isClosing() helps me to be safe. You mention safety, but not how isClosing() prevents you from being unsafe. In addition, I think there is some confusion between commits and offsets - can you rework this to be a bit more clear? Also, there is a typo - "regualar"
