@tweise Would it make sense to merge the changes minus the actual version upgrade? I think it would help for future upgrades.
I agree that the upgrade is not necessary at this point. That said, I've seen users asking for a Flink 1.6 compatible version due to improved Kubernetes support. I think we will have to think about adding a second build target for `1.6`.
