Check in the generated files (Rd and Rcpp) is generally what we do, mostly to accommodate `devtools::install_github()` IIRC. @hadley or @jimhester might know better.
But since we do already have a `./configure` file, perhaps these could be generated from there. The tradeoff would be that it would take a bit longer to install and the generated Rd and Rcpp files depend on the versions of roxygen and Rcpp installed on the user setup, not the developer of the 📦.
