@keith-turner Why not? In my view, checkstyle's main utility is in identifying style problems which the automatic formatting doesn't cover (either can't, or doesn't yet). If it only enforced stuff our automatic tooling was already doing, it wouldn't be very useful. I've actually been considering trying to make it run faster by having it avoid checks for things that we do automatically, so there's less overlap between the two.
