That's why I haven't used "probe" and "build" exclusively, but only as a third description: > joins an append-only table (left input/probe side) some users (maybe most) do not know this terminology, but it is still widely used in the documentation of most DBs (for example: https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/TGSQL/tgsql_join.htm#TGSQL245) and is helpful to the more advanced users. Thus I would insist on keeping it.
