@sumannewton : sorry for my slow response on this PR. I thought about this a little bit more. I think if the user passes both group and partition, that should be an error. The combination just does not make sense. Choosing one option arbitrarily to honor, and ignoring the other, is confusing for users. So let's just have an error message when this happens.
