This is not how I see it. I see it as "We are switching to `server_per_node` _and_ making it synchronous, but justifying it by saying that's it was working fine by starting things asynchronously before, so that's ok." I mean it's not a config change if you are also changing the code. But this is a moot point anyway.
I run a couple of tests with artificial timeouts in `rexi_server` and `rexi_buffer` inits and apart from expected `noproc` noise from `mem3_sync` on restart it work fine, so I'm good with this change.
