I agree both with being thorough, and with the fact that there's a lot that could be done to further improve this area of the code. Having said that, this PR was very focused and reviews (which weren't a lot of code at any point) sometimes took 1-2 months, but I guess that's due to limited committer resources. Anyway, thanks!
