There are definitely some benefits to the approach of providing a failureHandler function and it would be more convenient than what's proposed here in some scenarios, so I find it to be a perfectly reasonable suggestion. Providing an output collection of failures will hopefully to more flexible, though, and better integrated with other parts of Beam.
