Hi,
If by "document's sub-tree" you mean space containing documents you
will have to do that in Velocity I think using a combination of
$xwiki.searchDocuments("where doc.space='SpaceName'") and
$xwiki.copyDocument("SpaceName.DocName", "NewSpace.NewDocName").
