I don't know socialcalc model but it would be simple to integrate GoogleSpreadsheet even if it would be done with something such an iframe for the editor. One limitation: the doc will be stored in google not in xwiki. I have been studying google api with groovy also and this works, you can even create a spreadsheet from your script...
