This was just a try. I fixed the actual problem in r35844:
xwiki-core-model dependency had version ${commons.version} instead on
${project.version} in xwiki-annotation-maintainer pom. Note that this is
why I had problems releasing xwiki-core 3.0M3. So
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MRELEASE-666 is not a bug in maven
release plugin.
