Very very interesting,

today Firefox 19 arrived on my MacBook.
And... preview of PDF is based on PDFjs, offering you to open something else in 
case.
This is probably using Firefox's native JS compiler.
You can inspect the things there and some of the text is actually a DOM.
Embedded fonts fail for some TeX generated documents.
A warning is issued if there was an error opening, offering you to go to 
another viewer.

That was a good idea Ludovic!
Especially since it might bring to mobiles, the embedded PDF view (within an 
iframe or so).
