If you hide this UIX by default then you also prevent its discovery so I’m not
sure it’s a good thing. I don’t think that the manual watch is something for
advanced users at all. For me it’s useful whenever you want to watch a page
that you’re interested in (you may not have created or contributed to it with a
major revision).

If OTOH you have collapsible UIX and the state is saved in user cookies then I
don’t see a problem.

Sure that’s a good goal but we need to be careful to not make it
non-discoverable too so that’s why I’m a bit worried. For me this is really the
entry point of the watch feature ATM.

Right, and I remember already commenting on this aspect in the past (the fact
that messages are going to be drowned in pages notifications).

There are UI solutions for this which is for ex to have tabs for types of
notifications, or filters so that you can see all notifications of type
‘Message’ for ex.

Ideally, the user should be able to click on something that lists all unread
message notifications for ex. Or all unread Blog notifications. Or all unread
Pages notifications. i.e. filter by “Application” + by unread.

WDYT?
