Temporary job on a project assessing southern steelhead smolt survival

Experienced Field Technician Needed

 
Location:  Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties
 
Position:  Temporary, full-time
 
Responsibilities: Assist with research project involving fish.  Technician will be involved in handling/tagging fish, recording data, hauling equipment, surveying local estuaries for water conditions and invertebrates, placing acoustic receivers, and other field and data related tasks.  
 
Qualifications: prior experience handling wild animals in the field, preferably fish; a willingness to work under cold/wet conditions and some potentially long days, including some weekends.  Reliable transportation is required (most of the work will be in Ventura and Somis).    Some experience with aquatic or plant surveys a bonus, as is any boating experience.  Knowledge of aquatic biology or ecology preferred.

Start Date: Position begins mid-February 2007.

End Date: 
July/August 2007

Salary: $12/hour.
