NATIVE FISH AND AMPHIBIAN PROGRAM
SEASONAL APPOINTMENTS
There are two Conservation Aide positions open in Las Vegas. These
positions are scheduled to start in early to mid May, but start date is
negotiable. One position is funded for 9 months and the other is funded for
3 months. These are full time positions (40 hours/week). Although the duty
station is located in Las Vegas, program activities occur throughout the
southern and central portion of the state.
DUTIES: These positions assist the native fish and
amphibian biologist with monitoring and research activities associated with
native fish and amphibian populations, habitat assessment and restoration
projects, and exotic species control and eradication. The positions will
involve work with Endangered, Threatened and other sensitive native fish and
amphibian species.
REQUIREMENTS: At least one year of education from an accredited college
or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field. The
ability to work independently, often in remote areas for up to 5 days at a
time (the Department provides per diem). Working conditions may involve
camping and backpacking. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able
to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. Must provide own housing.
