DFC-L,
Many of you know Dr. Clark Hubbs from his many years of support of the
DFC and many papers presented at our meetings. He and his wife Cathy were
awarded the first DFC Lifetime Service Award
(

our last meeting in Ventura.
I'm sorry to report that Clark recently had a bit of a health scare and
was rushed to the hospital where he spent a few days, including a couple
in Critical Care. But, I'm happy to report that he was released to home
care yesterday. His son and daughter have been here in Austin all week
helping Cathy, and they now have 24-hour professional nursing care for
him at home. He's clearly frustrated to be restricted to bed for
some time, but chatted with us when Nathan Allan and I visited yesterday
afternoon. He seemed to be doing as well as might be expected under the
circumstances - perhaps a bit grumpier than usual, but obviously pleased
to be out of the hospital. He now resides in a hospital bed in his own
living room with his computer and friends and family close at hand. He
was looking quite cheery, dressed in a brightly colored fish-print shirt
when we visited (what a surprise!).
I'm sure Clark and Cathy would enjoy hearing from any well wishers at
this difficult time.
