W98 results:

Client requests:
        Node-type / Wins-server / Scope
Server sends:
        Node-type / Wins-server / Scope
Client records these in dhcp info:
        Node-type / Wins-server / Scope

All good up to here... But then...

Remember, the ones we really care about are WINS
and potentially the node-type, because we want to
force lost souls to see a WINS server.

The machine functionally ignores the supplied WINS server.
                (i'll repeat this)
The machine functionally ignores the supplied WINS server.
                (you get that?)

It receives the value, records it in dhcp info...
it just never uses the value. *** EVEN IF *** you
select "Use DHCP for WINS...", and reboot repeatedly,
it is never going to use the WINS server until you
select "enable WINS resolution", and that disables
the "Use DHCP" so then you have to type in the value.

(The above is true on either Node-type 4 or Node-type 8,
i.e. Mixed or Hybrid.)

Am I missing something obvious here?
Or is this just a Microsoft dhcp client bug?
