Do you mean your subnet mask is 255.255.255.248 or do you actually have
it as 206.153.53.248 in the /etc/dhcpd.conf?  I admit I may not have a
lot of experience with VLSM's but I would be inclined to say that the
latter is not a valid mask which is why Window's blows it.  Apps
probably still work but maybe slowly.  If you're network number is
206.153.53.x, then your mask should be listed as 255.255.255.248 in the
config file.  Remember that it is a bit mask used in conjunction with
the IP address to calculate the network number (and range).  Hence the
network number does not need to be contained within the mask.
