hi all,
I installed DHCP pl18 on Solaris last month and working fine .As people
are using hostnames arbitarily on the win95 clients, some of such
hostnames happened to clash with important server machines. Recently,
some one on the lan used the hostname of our samba server on his win95
PC and caused the samba services to almost standstill . I expect such
cases to repeat inspite of reserved hostrname info provided on our
intranet .
Does anyone have suggestions what kind of policies you are following
while using the hostnames for win95 clients by users ?
This was not a problem while we were assigning the fixed IP addresses, as
our PC support guys used to go to the user premises while setting up
their pC and provide hostnames based on their projects.
