I just want to make it clear that it's perfectly okay to ask on this
mailing list for help getting your NT, Windows 95, Apple, Internet
Software Consortium, Sun, Digital or *whatever* DHCP client working
with your Internet Software Consortium DHCP server.

It's even permissible to ask about other servers, although I
discourage it because it's unlikely that anybody here can help people
who are using other servers. Questions about the ISC DHCP client
that don't have to do with the server should of course be asked on the
dhcp-client mailing list.

There's no need for random people on the mailing list to work to keep
others on-topic. Please leave that to me. Not because I'm better at
it than you - chances are that I'm not - but rather because there's no
reason for more than one such correction to go out, and if I think one
is needed I will send it. And I'm less likely to be mistaken about
the purpose of this mailing list than any other reader, since, after
all, I run it. I know that people who send messages trying to keep
us on-topic mean well, so please don't read this as a public rebuke -
it's not intended that way at all.

By the way, to those toward whom I may have been rude in the past
while trying to keep us on-topic, I'm sorry. Like I said, I'm
probably not the best person here to be keeping us on-topic, but I'm
the one that has to do it. Sigh.

                               _MelloN_
