Apologies to those who might have seen this in the client list. I'm
resending to the server list as it is really a server issue.
We had a DHCP server crash which led to the lease information of the server
to be different from that on the client. So, for example, the server thought
the IP address should be 172.24.132.14 but the client thought it should be
172.24.132.15. The client is rebooted and issues a REQUEST asking for
172.24.132.15. The server remains silent. Is this legit behaviour? The
client and server are both on the same subnet. The server's range of IP
addresses spans both client addresses. There are no other DHCP servers
around. As the client receives no replies, the client chooses as it MAY to
use the address that it thinks has been assigned for the remainder of the
lease.
