Here, thanks to some hard work by an HP support engineer, is
HP's official position regarding DHCP and JetDirect print servers:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Official Hewlett-Packard Company Statement
HP JetDirect Print Servers with firmware X.05.XX through
X.06.XX were primarily developed and tested with Microsoft's Windows NT DHCP
implementation.
Newer JetDirect 600N, 400N, 300X, and 500X Network Print
Servers can be upgraded to X.07.XX or higher for enhanced DHCP functionality
and features.
Please note firmware below X.05.XX was not DHCP capable. You
must be at that minimum firmware to have any DHCP functionality.
For questions and issues regarding the DHCP implementation,
in identifying models and firmware or assistance with your upgrade options
for Hewlett-Packard JetDirect Network Print Servers please contact the HP
Customer Care Center @ 208-323-2551, and specify JetDirect as your product
and UNIX or other as your Operating System.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please contact HP's Customer Care Center directly if you have
questions regarding JetDirect DHCP support.
